Virtual Reality Arcade Grand Opening On Saturday

Canada’s first virtual reality arcade franchise has made it’s way to London, and will be holding a Grand Opening at their Wharncliffe South location this Saturday.

CTRL V is the “newest frontier in entertainment” and they are inviting Londoners to come down to the Opening, and play some of their games for free. There will also be door prizes including a prize pack to celebrate your next birthday at CTRL V with nine of your friends.

Doors will open at 10:00am.

Local forty somethings and over will remember the seventies and eighties glory days of arcades, when local establishments included places like Ace Arcade and Silver Ball. Now it’s those forty somethings that will likely need their children to indoctrinate them into the nuances of modern arcades and the world of virtual reality.

Obviously being immersed into a world where your visual, physical and audio senses are all stimulated, is a monumental leap from a game of pinball. However, the philosophy and logic of the arcade is still the same – to allow people to play with technology that they couldn’t dream of being able to outfit their own house with.

CTRL V is just that. A network of physical virtual reality stations, that offer the most cost and space-effective method for high-end immersion in the virtual reality world. They offer multi-player games, and people can watch the player’s progress on TVs outside the playing studios.

The facility offers large, cubicle like rooms that are padded, including the floors, to protect the equipment. It also offers protection to customers if they become disoriented by the new immersive experience. The facility also includes the aforementioned party room for events like birthday parties,or corporate team building events.

The company started just up the highway in Waterloo in 2016, and London being their __ location speaks to their success. The virtual reality market has not experienced the stratospheric conditions that were originally predicted, but as cultural ideologies wrap themselves around the incredible potential in any and all VR markets, the growth is still there. The gaming market may not benefit directly from the British Museum using virtual reality to harken people back to the Bronze Age, but the overall acceptance and familiarity of the technology does.

Some estimates have the virtual reality gaming markets growing to $80 billion U.S. dollars by 2020, but potentially as high as $1 trillion USD by 2035.

That’s a big pie.

So if you’ve never experienced it, why not go and enjoy your first piece of that pie for free on Saturday at CTRL V?
