Are you a Pink Floyd fan? You may want to check out PIGS then, as Canada’s Pink Floyd is bringing their Outside / In Canadian Tour 2018 to Wolf Performance Hall on October 19th. Canada’s only national touring Pink Floyd tribute, makes the London stop as part of a tour that takes PIGS from Nanaimo to Sydney and back, celebrating the 45th anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon (DSOTM).
They will be bringing their incredible re-creation of the live 70’s Pink Floyd concert experience, with a full performance of DSOTM, as well as other classic favourites and rarities. While the band plays songs from the entire Floyd catalogue, this tour concentrates on DSOTM and other music from between 1970 and 1975. Floyd fans can expect to hear things from as far back as Atom Heart Mother.
PIGS strive to be Canada’s most authentic Pink Floyd Tribute, which for this tour means looking, sounding and feeling like Pink Floyd in the 1970’s. It also means closely imitating the classic look with state of the art visuals and lasers, something they have been working on with VJ Photon (Erik Nortman) since 2009. The premiere visual artist collaborates with the band to combine their own material with original footage from Pink Floyd’s Mr. Screen.
Using authentic instruments and equipment, the band aims to recreate the sound to the letter. Over a dozen different guitars and basses are used each night, and songs are carefully performed combining aspects from both studio and original live versions. Even minutia down to the proper cables and guitar strings is adhered to.
And there’s no denying an uncanny “Gilmour sound” to lead singer Josh Szczepanowski’s vocals, just check out the Tour promo trailer:
Add the mannerisms, to that voice, the gear, the lights, the lasers, and the visuals, and you not only have the sound, but the feel.
Audiences may even be treated to long, psychedelic jams to such songs as Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun as the Originals were fond of doing themselves. There may even be some special surprises from Floyd solo projects, so perhaps you’ll luck into Gilmour’s There’s no Way Out Of Here, or Wright’s Against The Odds, or even Barrett’s Milky Way.
Formed in in Victoria, British Columbia in 2008, PIGS have spent over ten years honouring the music of Pink Floyd, and have perfected their craft to sold out audiences across Canada. The Outside / In Tour promises fans almost three full hours of authentic sound, state of the art lasers and visuals, to bring you a memorable Pink Floyd concert experience.
Grab your tickets, and check out why PIGS are considered one of the best Pink Floyd tributes around.
