New Southwest London Community Centre Gets New Name, Job Fair Tomorrow

City Council has approved a new name for the community centre located at 501 Southdale Road West. Previously referred to as the Southwest Community Centre, YMCA and Library, it will now be called the Bostwick Community Centre, YMCA and Library.

Set to open in September of this year, the centre will include multi-purpose community space, an indoor pool and gymnasium, a double pad arena, a YMCA fitness facility and a London Public Library branch. There will be something at the centre for every ability, age, and life stage.

Bostwick Community Centre, YMCA and Library is located within the Bostwick Planning District, and maintains a trend of naming other recent community centre projects. The project is a joint venture between The City of London, YMCA of Western Ontario and the London Public Library.

YMCA membership sales and on-site facility tours will begin August 13th, and schedules will be posted online.

The London Public Library fall programs, both drop in and registered, will be listed online starting August 2nd.

The City of London Fall/Winter Spectrum guide will be available August 13th, and registration for Spectrum programs will be available as of August 17th (Older Adults 55+ only) and August 20th for the general public.

Job Fair

The community centre is hosting a Job and Volunteer Fair tomorrow from 6:00pm-8:30pm and Saturday from 10:00am-12:30pm at Saunders Secondary School. They are hiring for all Part-time roles, and will need staff and volunteers in all departments, including: Aquatics, Child & Youth, Adult Fitness, Facilities & Housekeeping, and Membership.
