London Firefighters Injured In Training Exercise

Late this morning, two members of the London Fire Department were taken to hospital as a result of an incident that occurred during a water rescue training exercise on Fanshawe Lake.

Both firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries. They are listed in stable condition at Victoria Hospital.

The Ministry of Labour has been notified and there will be an investigation launched to review the incident.

“Training is a critical part of our job because members of our service can be called into a dangerous situation on any given day,” said Jack Burt, Acting Deputy Fire Chief. “Our first priority today is to ensure the two members who have been injured receive the care and treatment required.”

To respect the investigation process, the London Fire Department will not be providing any further detail regarding what occurred during the training exercise.
