The investigation into the death of William MacPherson near Old South continues, but London Police have charged two men in connection with an alleged altercation. The body was discovered last Friday evening, in the area of Wortley Road and Stanley Street. A post-mortem examination revealed that he was the victim of homicide, however the exact cause of death remains under investigation.
Mr. MacPherson was seen in the company of four other people walking west on Bathurst Street near Talbot Street shortly after 12:00 pm on August 9, 2018, and was wearing blue shorts and no shirt at that time.
During their investigation, police received information about an altercation which allegedly took place, which has led to the following Criminal Code of Canada charges:
Philip Scott Pearson, 34, of no fixed address, was charged with one count of assault by warrant on August 13, 2018.
Timothy Paul Carew, 48, of no fixed address, is charged with two counts of assault. He was arrested August 12, 2018, and remains in custody.
“Information about the alleged altercation is an investigative detail that we are not able to disclose at this time,” said Det. Sgt. Alex Krygsman. “But we are appealing for the public’s help in locating Mr. Pearson and for any information related to Mr. MacPherson between approximately noon on Thursday, August 9th and 7:45 pm on Friday, August 10th.”
