Bouchard Cracks Top Five In Central Scouting’s Final Rankings

London Knights defenceman Evan Bouchard will enter the 2018 NHL Draft on June 22nd, as NHL Central Scouting Bureau’s top North American defenceman.

After tying London’s franchise record for points in a season by a defenceman (87), and a potential OHL defenceman of the year award coming, Bouchard moved up one spot from his mid-term Bureau ranking of fifth, to fourth on the final list of North American skaters.

The Knights captain is a formidable puck moving defender with prolific offensive skills. The smooth skater loves to jump into the rush, where he has the ability to make smart passes and dictate play. He is the complete package. His intelligence and hockey sense make him good in the defensive zone, where he’s always in the right position and is good at cutting off passing lanes.

Add a great work ethic, and Bouchard is the prototypical modern rearguard that plays well in all three zones.

His rising stock and final ranking aren’t surprising, and he now trails only Barrie’s Andrei Svechnikov, Filip Zadina of the Halifax Mooseheads, and another London Knight in Brady Tkachuk, atop the North American rankings. Tkachuk played for Boston University last year.

Other London Knights on the Bureau’s list include Liam Foudy at 19th, Alec Regula at 72nd, Billy Moskal at 99th and Nathan Dunkley at 109th. Jordan Kooy was ranked 15th for North American goalies.

Good luck to all of them in Dallas in June.

No Ontario Hockey League team has produced more NHL draft picks since 1969 than London.
