Fire Continues To Burn At The Former Hooks Restaurant

The London Fire Department is still on the scene of a major fire that started in a vacant building shortly after 5:30 p.m. today. Multiple units have been working to contain the blaze, however, it continues to burn and is producing heavy black smoke. London Fire confirms that nobody was inside what was formerly Hooks restaurant when the fire started, and there are no injuries.

The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change have been notified, and city staff are on site monitoring sewer operations due to excess water. It’s expected that the fire could be active for up to 6 more hours.

Traffic is currently blocked at Wharncliffe Road, and residents are asked to avoid the area, whether by car or on foot.

Fire hoses are running along Southdale Road; drivers are asked to avoid running over them.
