Five Men Charged After Home Invasion On Essex Street Leaves Two Injured

Four men from Winnipeg and one from London are facing charges, after a home-invasion style break and enter over the weekend that left two men with minor injuries.

On Sunday at approximately 6 p.m., police responded to a 9-1-1 call that several males had entered a residence on Essex Street armed with weapons including a crowbar and handgun. The men identified themselves to the occupants as being London Police officers and said they had a search warrant for the residence.

Two male occupants were assaulted.

The suspects fled upon police arrival but following a foot chase, all five were arrested nearby without incident.

Khalaf Shammo, 22, Mourad Shammo, 25, Falah Shammo, 27, and Headar Shammo, 31, all of Winnipeg, and Khalid Shammo Kheder,18, of London, are all charged with:

Break and enter;
Assault causing bodily harm;
Assault with a weapon; and
Personating a peace officer.

Headar Shammo was also charged with two counts of breach of recognizance.

All were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday in relation to the charges.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
