Luke Evangelista, Sahil Panwar, Sean McGurn, and Ben Roger haven’t even played a game for the London Knights yet, and they’re already making headlines. Four of the newest London Knights have been named to the Team Canada Development Camp Roster for the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, and have all been invited to the development camp taking place in Calgary, Alberta.
All four players were selected in this past April’s Ontario Hockey League draft. Evangelista was drafted in the first round, 14th overall, Panwar was taken in the second round, 23rd overall, McGurn was selected in the third round, 53rd overall, and Roger was chosen in the fourth round, 74th overall.
“We are very proud to see Luke, Sahil, Sean, and Ben all taking part in this year’s U-17 Hockey Canada Development Camp,” said London Knights’ General Manager, Rob Simpson. “We are looking forward to seeing them compete at their highest level and continue that drive towards London for future seasons.”
Over 100 young men were invited to the development camp, 53 of whom are Canadian Hockey League first round picks. The group will be split up into six different squads that will start practicing on July 22nd at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary. The squads will then each play against three of the other five teams July 25th, 26th, and 27th.
Londoner George Diaco was also invited to the Camp. The left winger was drafted in the 6th round, 101st overall, by Hamilton.
