With temperatures already hovering around 30 C today, and expected to reach at least that, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for parts of Southwestern Ontario, including London.
The humidex will make the heat feel more like 35 C.
A warm and humid airmass is expected to move into Southern Ontario today. The daytime maximum temperatures are likely to reach the low thirties with overnight lows near 20 degrees Celsius. Temperatures will be lower on Tuesday with daytime highs expected to remain below thirty degrees.
“These conditions pose a health risk when you are not used to the heat,” Environment Canada said.
Everyone is at risk from heat, but it is especially noteworthy for older adults, infants and young children, and people with chronic illnesses.
Be sure to drink plenty of cool liquids before feeling thirsty, and stay cool by dressing for the weather and spending a few hours each day in a cool place.
