Knights Have Two Picks In CHL Import Draft Tomorrow

The London Knights will be taking part in the 2018 CHL Import Draft tomorrow at 11:00am. The Knights will have two picks in the draft, 42nd and 102nd overall. These picks may be upgraded as teams can elect to pass on their selection.

It is a two-round draft that will take place online. The order of selection will cycle through each of the CHL’s three leagues, using the inverse order of the final regular season standings within each league from last season. The QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs hold the number one pick, followed by the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings at number two, and the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves will select third overall.

For the first time since 2013, goaltenders will be eligible for selection in the Import Draft.

Last year a total of 72 players were selected – 50 forwards and 22 defencemen. There were players from 11 different countries, with Russia leading the way with nineteen.

Each team in the CHL is permitted to dress and play a maximum of two import players each season who are selected annually through the CHL Import Draft.
