Police Charge London Man In Child Abduction Case

London Police have laid charges following an intense and extensive investigation, following their arrest of a man yesterday evening in connection with the Mother’s Day abduction of a four-year-old girl.

On Sunday morning, the victim was grabbed by a man who stopped and exited his vehicle, and then placed her in his car before driving away. A witness observed the incident and called 9-1-1. The man drove a short distance through the neighbourhood, before the young girl was able to open the door and run home while the car had come to a stop. It was reported that the man touched the girl inappropriately while she was in his vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Lawrence Allen Thompson, 65, of London, is charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

Abduction of person under fourteen years of age;
Kidnapping;
Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age; and
Sexual interference with person under 16 years of age.

He is in custody, and is scheduled to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.

The London Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation.
