Seven People Facing 40 Charges After Weekend Student Party Crashed

Three firearms were seized, two men were injured, and seven are facing charges after a weekend robbery at a student party.

On Sunday at approximately 2 a.m., police responded to a large student party on Thurman Circle after two occupants were assaulted by uninvited guests and personal items were stolen.

“It’s important that when you have gatherings at your home, that you only allow entry to the individuals who were invited,” said Det. Sgt. Blair Harvey of the General Investigations Section. “Students should be extremely careful when hosting a party. There are some people who may attend with the sole intention to violently rob the occupants.”

The suspects fled in various directions upon police arrival, with some running into a stranger’s home on Fleming Drive. Three were arrested there shortly after by officers from the Uniformed Division.

Others were arrested by members of the Emergency Response Unit as they were attempting to enter a taxi cab nearby.

ERU and uniformed officers, with the assistance of Fanshawe College Campus Security Services, located and arrested two more suspects in a park nearby.
