Last night at approximately 9:40pm, London Police responded to a call of a woman in distress in the area of Wonderland Road South and Southdale Avenue.
Officers tried to negotiate with the woman, but she fell from the balcony. Officers performed CPR on the woman until paramedics arrived, and she was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead at 10:48pm.
The Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate and will be investigating the circumstances of the death. The SIU investigate reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
