Today the city announced the winners in London’s city-wide 2018 Neighbourhood Decision Making (NDM) program. Residents from every neighbourhood of the city, made up the more than 7,100 Londoners that helped decide what neighbourhood enhancement projects will be funded. On Saturday, June 16, online voting made up more than 5,500 of those votes (5,680) with the rest coming at local library branches around the city (1,434).
A total of $250,000 in funding was available, and the city was divided into five geographic areas. Each area received $50,000 for projects to help make London’s many great neighbourhoods even better.
“The Neighbourhood Decision Making program is such a great way for Londoners to decide on what type of investment they’d like in their own community,” said Mayor Matt Brown. “It’s amazing to see the creativity and passion behind the projects. Thank you to all those who submitted ideas and voted.”
London residents were invited to submit ideas for their neighbourhoods from April 23rd through May 22nd. There were 226 ideas submitted, with 143 making it onto the ballot after a feasibility review by City staff.
The following 17 winning projects will be implemented over the course of the next year.
