Dundas Street’s construction will not prevent a precursory look at how exciting Downtown London is going to be when Dundas Place is finished, because it’s Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) tomorrow! The road will be completely closed to cars, but open to comic enthusiasts, for a street party between Richmond and Clarence streets on Dundas.
Londoners can get free comics at: L.A. Mood Comics & Games, Heroes Comics, Neo Tokyo, The Anime Store, World’s Away Comics, Forest City Coins, and the Central London Public Library. They can also participate in the Comic Shop Crossover, and pick up a passport for a chance to win one of many prizes, by getting it stamped at each of the locations, and dropping it off at the last stop.
Forest City Comicon will be set up both on Dundas, and at L.A. Mood offering $20 Early Bird advanced discounts for the September conference.
There will also be on-going festivities throughout the day at some of the FCBD passport locations:
L.A. Mood will have a VR demo from Ctrl V London.
The Central Library will have a Costume Contest on the main floor at 2:30pm. Register before 2pm to participate.
Like Record Store Day, FCBD is a great initiative to support local business. The Comic Shop Crossover indicates great goodwill between the independent shop owners, and will hopefully benefit all of them. The construction downtown, makes the climate a bit tougher for all of the business owners, so it’s a good opportunity to support all of them.
