The City of London, along with the Middlesex-London Health Unit and Regional HIV/AIDS Connection, launched a new video designed to teach the public how to pick up used needles found on private property in London.
The goal of the new video is to demonstrate how residents and business owners can dispose of used needles, razor blades or broken glass, also known as “sharps”, found on their properties in a safe way. City staff collect and respond to calls about sharps found on public property.

People are encouraged to use gloves, sealable containers and other equipment they already have at home to help them pick any sharps they may find, before throwing them out in a specially-designed needle disposal bin. Details can be found at London.ca/needles.
City of London staff can be called to remove sharps found in public spaces on the 24-Hour Dispatch line at 519-661-2489 ext. 4965.
