Man Facing Nine Charges After Standoff On Marconi Boulevard

On Tuesday at approximately 11 pm, London Police responded to the area of Marconi Boulevard and Noel Avenue. Upon their arrival, a woman reported she had been held against her will and threatened with a weapon.

She had managed to escape the residence and the suspect – who was known to the victim – and had barricaded himself inside.

The situation was resolved peacefully at approximately 7:00am.

As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old man is charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

Fail to Comply with Recognizance (five counts)
Assault with a weapon
Mischief Under $5000
Break Enter & Commit Assault
Forcible Confinement

Among the items seized from the residence were several replica firearms.

The accused will appear in court today in relation to the charges. He is not being named to protect the identity of the victim.
