Owen Boon put in eight stellar innings, and the Majors got home runs from Cleveland Brownlee and Michael Ambrose, en route to an 11-2 pounding of the Guelph Royals.
It was Brownlee’s sixth home run of the season (5th in IBL), and his record-best 71st as a Major. He went 2-for-5, and his 3 RBIs give him 22 on the season – also good for fifth best in the IBL.
Boon had his best start of the season, notching 10 strikeouts in his eight innings of work. He was unbeatable early on, striking out five in the first two innings.
Byron Reichstein continued the hot hand that landed him IBL Player of the Week honours last week, going 3-for-4. He also had 3 RBIs, which brings his season total to 25 and fourth best in the IBL.
With the win, the Majors improved to 15-8 on the season, and sit just 1.5 games back of the league leading 17-7 Kitchener Panthers.
London can squeeze that down to a half-game, as they play the Panthers tonight in Kitchener. First pitch is at 7:30pm.
